National Property

Housing update (AFR Pg.13)

  • According to Treasurer Wayne Swan faster planning processes need to be implemented, land release policies need to be improved, developer charges need to decline and more land needs to be found via audits which will assist with increasing land supply and housing affordability.
  • The Australian population is forecast to be 36 million by 2050.

AVJennings update (AFR Pg.57)

  • AVJennings is planning on boosting their land bank, which is down to approximately 9,300 lots, equivalent to a 4-5 year supply.

Australand update (AFR Pg.56)

  • Australand intends on becoming a REIT in 2010 as they attempt to reduce the impact of unpredictable development earnings and higher funding costs.
  • The strategy involves delivering 60%-70% of their recurrent income from property investments.
